Development Nous was set up by Principal Planner Matthew Holder and Licensed Cadastral Surveyor Karl Carew in 2016. Following strong organic growth, in 2022 Karl and Matthew merged with well-established Hastings companies Shanley Surveyors, and DesignPhase a leading Structural and Civil Engineering consultancy creating a locally based one-stop-shop.

Joining forces has provided Development Nous with greater resilience and a deepening of our professional expertise for the benefit of our clients and their projects. We are a multi-disciplinary land and property development company servicing businesses, organisations and individuals, locally and across New Zealand. We’ve designed our business to support you.
