Jellicoe Hood Beatty
Kainga Ora Homes and Communities collaborative project Jellicoe, Hood, and Beatty proposed a comprehensive development of 24 new homes across 3 street frontages within Mayfair, Hastings. The existing sites included 11 lots across 8,092m² and included existing state homes which were demolished in early 2021. Construction of the new dwellings started with the 4 two-bed single storey, stand alone brick dwellings along Hood Street, closely followed by a one-bed duplex and triplex accessed via the Beatty Place cul-de-sac street on the south side of the site.
The remainder of the site accessed from Jellicoe Street, includes 5 standalone two and three-bed single storey homes, and 4 two-storey 4 and 5 bed duplex’s, serviced by a one-way Jointly Owned Access Lot (JOAL). The JOAL is a slow speed shared environment that incorporates high quality urban hardscape treatments, public lighting, designated walkways, and extensive soft landscaping.
The project was lead by architectural designers Createus Group in collaboration with Development Nous who provided planning services to the completion of the Resource Consent, surveying, landscape architectural and civil engineering services with other external consultants providing structural and geotechnical expertise.
Jellicoe, Hood, Beatty is nearing completion toward the end of 2022 with the aim to officially open in early 2023.
